Consul General Serdar Belentepe was born in 1974 in Marl, Germany.

He graduated from Saint-Benoit French High School and İstanbul University, Faculty of Political Science, Department of Management. He received his Master’s degree in Conflict Studies, Faculty of Human Sciences of Saint Paul and Ottawa Universities in Canada.

Consul General Belentepe entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998. He worked at the Deputy Directorate General for African Countries and for Bilateral Economic Affairs. From 2001 to 2003 he served as Attaché and then Third Secretary at the Turkish Embassy in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo and as Deputy Consul General at the Turkish Consulate General in Essen, Germany between 2003-2006.

Following his return to the Ministry, he worked as Second and then First Secretary at the Deputy Directorate General for European Political Affairs between 2006-2008. From 2008 to 2009 he was appointed as the First Secretary to the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada. He served as First Secretary and then Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa, Canada between 2009-2012.

After acting as the Head of Department at the Consular Affairs Department for Middle East between 2012-2014, Mr. Serdar Belentepe has assumed his duties as Consul General of Turkey in Alexandria, Egypt as of September 1, 2014.

Consul General Belentepe is married with two children. He speaks French and English.
